Dr. Rafik Zaky was born in Cairo, Egypt, and raised in Canada. As a child, he enjoyed playing water polo and guitar—interests that continue to this day. After high school, he pursued his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with Honours at McMaster University. His passion for healthcare then led him to Europe, where he earned both a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Dental Science from Trinity College in Dublin. During his time at the Dublin Dental University Hospital, he gained extensive clinical experience before returning to Canada, where he successfully passed the National Dental Board Examinations and became a registered member of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons.
Following graduation, Dr. Rafik practiced general dentistry across multiple clinics, gaining well-rounded experience in various aspects of the field. Over time, he developed a strong passion for oral surgery and implantology, prompting him to pursue advanced education and hands-on training in those specialties.
Dr. Rafik has completed both basic and advanced training in Oral Implantology. He has a particular interest in hard and soft tissue manipulation to achieve optimal aesthetic and functional outcomes with dental implants. To date, he has successfully placed over 1,000 implants and completed numerous complex cases with consistently high success rates. He is an active member of the Ontario Dental Association and the Canadian Dental Association.
Driven by a vision to elevate dental care, Dr. Rafik founded Sunray Dental Centre in collaboration with Rite-Bite Denture Clinic and Maximus Dental Milling Centre, located in the heart of Streetsville, Mississauga. The clinic is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, enabling him to deliver high-quality, comprehensive dental services to the community.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Rafik enjoys staying active, playing guitar, watersports, and traveling. In his downtime, you’ll find him relaxing with friends, reading, losing (gracefully) at FIFA, and singing karaoke—enthusiastically, if not exactly in tune.
